Mystery Movie Event With Merton Arts Trail

Arts Trail catalogue set for local launch

Merton Arts Trail is holding a Mystery Movie event in conjunction with Wimbledon Film Club.

A special one off event in an undisclosed and exclusive location, the Mystery Movie event will take place in the Merton area on Saturday September 20. Tickets will go on sale in early August.

Wendy Bliss, Co-Founder of Merton Arts Trail, said: "We are pleased to have our partners at Wimbledon Film Club on board for this special event. The Mystery Movie event will be a first for Merton Arts Trail, and will really set this year apart from previous ones.

"Members of the public will be able to buy tickets ahead of the event with clues given as to the location. We do not want to give the game away as to where it will be but what I will say is it is unusual and it is sure to be a fantastic and atmospheric event!"

Johnjoe McFadden, Chair of Wimbledon Film Club, added: "I am pleased we are involved in this year's Merton Arts Trail. This special one off film event that we have programmed should really add to the visitor experience of this year’s festival. By combining the visual arts with film, visitors to the Trail are sure to have a great day out this September."

Also new for 2014 is the launch of the Merton Arts Trail 'Hub' at the Wimbledon Library. The Hub will provide the opportunity for members of the public to find out more about the Trail and to mix with the artists involved.

Merton Arts Trail takes place during the last two weekends in September, when emerging and established artists are given the opportunity to exhibit and sell their latest work in homes, studios, galleries and shops in this community-based festival of the arts.

Visitors to Merton Arts Trail can create a personalised experience, by using a map and catalogue to direct them to participating venues as well as providing them with contact details for the artists, who they can meet with to discuss their work. All exhibitions are free and artists benefit 100% from any sales.

Merton Arts Trail, which was launched in 2010 and has more than doubled in size since its inception. Last year it featured 140 artists.
