Diana Sterck, the Chief Executive of Merton Chamber of Commerce, said: "It is such a feel good factor launching into our second year of the Merton Best Business Awards. Interest is already high and we are looking forward to working with all our sponsors to help put Merton’s best businesses on the map.”

Stephen Alambritis, the Leader of Merton Council said: "Right now Merton is the place to be in business. We recognise the benefits and kudos generated from winning a business award and want to encourage as many companies as possible to enter. Merton is sponsoring town centre awards to encourage all types of businesses across the whole of the borough to take part.

"It’s a great opportunity to raise your business profile and with a little effort can have a massive impact on sales and recognition.”

The launch event was held in Taste Restaurant, South Thames College’s state of the art catering academy in Morden. With drinks and canapés prepared and served by the students, the event also showcased young talent that will be future businesses in the years ahead.
