Meet The Best Businesses In Merton

Second Merton Best Business Awards

New Wimbledon Theatre said it was thrilled to have won three awards at the Merton Best Business Awards.

The theatre took home Merton Best Business of the Year, Best Young Person of the Year and Wimbledon Business of the Year.

Meet The Best Businesses In MertonThe most prestigious award of the evening was for Merton Best Business of the Year. The award was presented to New Wimbledon Theatre by Simon Marsh from WSM Partners.

The theatre was also presented with the award for Wimbledon Business of the Year. Lisa Mart, Acting General Manager for New Wimbledon Theatre, said: "We are absolutely thrilled to have won three fantastic awards at this year’s Merton Best Business Awards. We are extremely proud of Tamykha for winning Best Young Person of the Year and are looking forward to her continued work with us in a full-time position.

"And of course we are delighted to be announced as Merton’s Best Business of the Year and I would like to congratulate the entire team for their dedication and continued hard-work."

Other awards, presented at the event at the All England Tennis Club, included a special award, presented by Councillor Stephen Alambritis, Leader of Merton Council, which went to Carers Support Merton based in Mitcham.

Diana Sterck, CEO of Merton Chamber of Commerce, said: "Many congratulations to the much deserving grand final winners, and congratulations also go to those businesses shortlisted as a finalist. In my view they are all winners because their businesses have been judged by other business people, a very powerful endorsement indeed."

She also challenged the 240 select guests of the finalists to consider taking on apprentices.
"Young people are our future and the future for business," she said.

Take One is a campaign launched by Merton Chamber of Commerce in 2013 asking employers to step up and support young people into the world of work. The campaign has meant 160 young people gaining apprenticeship places with businesses in the borough.

She added: "The buzz of anticipation before the event was completely fulfilled. We had a truly great set of winners and runners up deserving of recognition not only in Merton but across London and the country.

"The awards are only in their second year but they have gone from strength to strength with more entrants from a wider range of brilliant businesses."
