The Merton Best Business Finalists Are Named

Awards will take place at Wimbledon's AELTC

Businesses champions from across Merton will be heading to Wimbledon's All England Tennis Club for their own championships only weeks after the tennis concludes.

That's because the judges in the Merton Best Business Awards have decided on the list of finalists who will be going for glory in their own Grand Final on September 24.

Diana Sterck, chief executive of Merton Chamber of Commerce, said: "Every day of the year businesses across Merton serve up stunning innovation, dedication and growth for the borough.

"This week, even as we celebrate the world's greatest tennis stars in our midst, our thoughts are turning to a celebration of our champion companies and entrepreneurs.

"Our heartiest congratulations go to all our finalists - we look forward to another fantastic night of celebration in September."

The Grand Final will be held on Thursday, September 24, at the All England Tennis Club, Wimbledon, with finalists, dignitaries and event sponsors in attendance.

A spokesperson for headline sponsors WSM Advisors said the company is delighted to be associated with those talented and passionate businesses and professionals in Merton that have made it as finalists in these awards.

The spokesperson added: “The 2015 Merton Best Business Awards have received more entries than ever before and, with so many high quality businesses and professional in the borough, it is a tremendous achievement for everyone who has made it to the final stages. We wish continued success to all those that entered the awards and particularly to the finalists in September.”

Merton is officially London's number one small-business friendly borough. Merton Council received the accolade from the Federation of Small Business recently in recognition of the support and advice provided to start-ups and growing businesses.

Leader of Merton Council, Councillor Stephen Alambritis, said: "Merton has over 5,000 businesses in the borough and we recognise their importance to our economy and to creating jobs for our residents. This is why we have put in place a comprehensive business support programme. This includes being headline sponsors of the Merton Business Awards. The awards are a platform to showcase and raise the profile of our excellent local businesses. It's always a pleasure to see the entries and discover emerging new businesses."
