Merton's Business Community Marks Local Achievements

Merton Chamber members gather for AGM

More than 70 members of Merton's businness community celebrated the achievements of Merton Chamber of Commerce at their AGM.

It took place at Wimbledon's Cannizaro House Hotel, where members heard the latest developments, trends and issues that are important to the Merton business community.

Merton Chamber of Commerce is now the largest area based Chamber of Commerce in London, working with more than 2,500 businesses on business development issues.

Chief Executive Diana Sterck presented highlights of the last year, including two 'Olympic Legacy' projects. One of these - the Wimbledon Way, a heritage and cultural walk through the heart of Wimbledon, will be extended during 2013.

She also spoke about four initiatives that were launched this year including Ambition, Merton Means Business, Take One and The Merton Best Business Awards. Diana explained: "These exciting initiatives have been introduced to support local business and to make Merton a great place to work and do business.

"We are so pleased to see so many familiar faces at our events and of course some new ones too and to receive such great support from them all is fantastic. We have been very lucky to work with some incredible and successful businesses in Merton and we look forward to continuing with this."
