Nominate Your Community Champion

Celebrate people who make a difference in Merton

Merton Council's community champion award nominations are now open.

Do you know somebody who goes the extra mile to help you or your neighbourhood? Do you know a volunteer who gives up their time for the benefit of their community or maybe a youth worker who changes the lives of young people in the borough?

Who is your community champion? They could be a nurse, a police officer, your foster carer, librarian, or a teaching assistant – somebody who makes a difference to Merton, making it a great place to live and work. It’s your decision.

Councillor Stephen Alambritis, Leader of Merton Council, said: “We are so fortunate in Merton to have a great number of volunteers whose work is invaluable to the borough.

"There are also many people working for the public sector who go that extra mile for our residents and we want to celebrate the contribution they make.

"Finances have been tight as public sector budgets continue to be squeezed, but still we see the dedication of many people to their work. This is a celebration of our community in Merton and I would love to see as many people as possible nominate their community champion.”

The closing date for nominations is Friday September 15.

The community champion nomination form is on the council’s website.
