Merton Chamber Chair Wins Compact Award

Award honours local partnership working

Merton Chamber of Commerce Chair, Revd Andrew Wakefield, has won the Compact Leadership Award 2013.

The award honours his constant championing and support for the Compact, which promotes collaborative partnership working across organisations.

He received the award at a Westminster ceremony hosted by Simon Blake, Chair of Compact Voice, and Nick Hurd MP, Minister for Civil Society.

Mr Hurd said: "The winners of the 2013 Compact Awards all display thoughtful and collaborative partnership working. They show just how much can be achieved when people work well in partnership."

Nominations from the voluntary, community and government sectors were submitted from right across England.

The award acknowledged not only the personal role and activity of Revd Wakefield, who is also vicar at St Andrew's Church in South Wimbledon, but is testament to partnerships built with Merton Council and Merton Voluntary Services Council.
