Eid Party And Health Seminar


Free health checks included

The British Muslim Association of Merton (BMAM) held an Eid party with a seminar on Health & Wellbeing in the Council Chamber of Merton Civic Centre, Morden.

Imam of Kingston Mosque spoke on the significance of the Islamic festival, Eid, at the event on September 28.

Speakers from 'Live Well' and 'Alive N Kicking' contributed to the health seminar. Physical health checks for blood pressure and Body Mass Index were provided free by qualified health professionals.

The Health & Wellbeing programme was jointly funded by the Church Urban Fund and London Catalyst (formerly known as the Metropolitan Hospital – Sunday Fund). The event included a light programme of musical performances presented by children.

The guests of honour were Mr Stephen Hammond (MP for Wimbledon & Under Secretary of State for Transport), Ms Siobhain McDonagh (MP for Mitcham & Morden), Leader of the Council Cllr Stephen Alambritis,  Deputy Leader of the Conservative Group Cllr Henry Nelless and a number of local Councillors and other dignitaries. The event was chaired by Mr Abdul Latif, Chairman of the British Muslim Association of Merton (BMAM).
