Have Fun And Learn In Merton

Family Learning Festival: Oct 9-29

Merton's annual Family Learning Festival will offer a variety of events across the borough in children's centres, schools, learning venues and libraries.

From Bollywood dance to messy play, and French to history, families are invited to participate in the free activities from October 9-29.

Classes include salsa dancing with Merton Adult Education at the Whatley Avenue site in Wimbledon Chase on Sunday October 9. In this fun activity session, families will learn new steps and enjoy dancing from 10.30am-11.30am.

Two-hour classes ranging from nail art to photography will also be on offer throughout the festival, which has been running since 2003. Last year more than 700 people took part.

Hill House Community Centre in Morden will be holding a family fun day from 11am–3pm on Sunday October 16. They promise a day of challenges and activities includes science games, crazy card-making, circus skills, first aid and healthy eating.

Merton's libraries are also involved and classes such as family languages, fun fabrics and creating cartoons can be found in libraries across the borough.

The events are offered to adult members of a family and their children. The adult member could be a parent, carer, grandparent, aunt, uncle or an adult brother or sister. Booking is essential for some courses; call 0208-274-5222 to book a place.
