Team Merton Takes On Other Boroughs

Local youngsters in London Youth Games

The London Youth Games second event concluded over the weekend with team Merton in action.

The latest round of games involved cricket, with both boys and girls teams taking part.

The girls were unable to win their group, losing games against Bromley and City of Westminster, but winning against Enfield.

The boys (pictured right) came second, defeating Waltham Forest, but losing out to eventual group winners Wandsworth. Currently Merton is 19th in the league table out of the 34 boroughs.

The 2011 Balfour Beatty London Youth Games season will see 25 competition days across 30 sports for young people aged 7-18.

Last year more than 50,000 young people took part from all London boroughs competing in individual, team, boys, girls, able-bodied and disabled events.
