Merton Police Take Two Husky Dogs Into "Custody"

Owner is found after a social media appeal

Merton police were recently called to "arrest" two female husky dogs who were running loose.

When they caught up with the two dogs, who they nicknamed Cagney and Lacey, they took them back to Wimbledon police station before they could be collected by the dog warden.

They had been found running around Old Kingston Road, Worcester Park. Although they were microchipped, it gave only a blank reading.

Dogs in custodyThey were due to be kept by the dog warden for a week before re-homing, but following a social media appeal, their owner was traced.

She said she'd recently moved from South Africa and her much-loved pets had forced their way out of an insecure back garden - which she will now fix!
