Merton Police Target Priority Crimes

Midway through Operation Atlas

Merton Police are halfway through Operation Atlas - an initiative to crackdown on "priority crimes".

They are two weeks into the operation and have made a number of arrests across the borough.

A spokesman said: "Operation Atlas is a intensive four week initiative launched by Merton Police to combat priority crime right across the borough, with priority crimes currently being burglary, robbery and violent offences.

"Police have been using both uniformed and plain clothed officers, with some support coming from other areas of the Metropolitan Police, to both solve and reduce crime.

"Responses from local residents have been really positive, with members of the public keen to engage with police when ever possible."
