New Year Honours List Is Revealed

Local recipients of the Queen's New Year Honours have included Chris Frost (below), chief executive of Merton's Voluntary Services Council.

She died suddenly in November at the age of 67, but knew she was to receive an MBE. Details were revealed at her funeral.

The Queen's New Year list also included an OBE for Merton resident Stephen Jack, chairman of the Independent Living Fund.

The Fund is a public organisation set up to support disabled people to live as independently as possible.

James Little, the Honorary Librarian at Wimbledon's All England Club, was awarded an OBE for services to tennis.

Wimbledon businessman Paul Strank visited Buckingham Palace before Christmas to collect his MBE.
