Some collections will take place earlier or later than your usual collection day and times may differ. Collections will return to normal from Monday 6 January 2014.

The refuse and recyling centre located at Amenity Way, Morden, SM4 4AX, is open from 8am to 4pm – seven days a week except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

It's also that time of year when the leaves are falling, and with more than220,000 street trees in Merton that's a lot of leaves for the council to deal with.

They say residents can help by not sweeping leaves from their gardens, drives or pavements into the road, as this may block the road gullies and could cause flooding.

The borough's leaf clearance crews will be out sweeping up over 100 tonnes of leaves during the autumn months. The crews make their way around Merton on a schedule so everywhere will be cleared, but if you see a build up of leaves, call them on 020 8274 4902.
