Wimbledon Foodbank Receives Donations From Council Staff

Fifteen boxes will help local families in need

Wimbledon Foodbank has received donations of Christmas treats, food and a range of toiletries from staff at Merton Borough Council.

Leader of the council, Councillor Stephen Alambritis (right), helped load up the 15 boxes to take to the foodbank ready to be given to families most in need this Christmas.

Volunteers at the foodbank in High Path took delivery of the donations and got them ready for distribution.

Councillor Stephen Alambritis said: "These are very tough times and some of our families living in Merton are finding it hard to make ends meet. Christmas is a happy time of year for many and these donations and the great work done by many dedicated volunteers at the Wimbledon Foodbank help some of our more vulnerable residents have a good Christmas this year."

Robin Thaney, a volunteer from Wimbledon Foodbank, said: "Every year we receive many items that most of us take for granted, but for the people who come to us for help, these donations mean so much. Thank you to everyone who has contributed. Merry Christmas everyone."
