GCSE Students in Merton Among Country's Top Performers


Sixty per cent achieve benchmark result, more than 6% above average

New figures released by the Government show that GCSE students in Merton's state schools are among the country's highest performers.

The benchmark of five GCSEs ranked A*-C including English and maths was achieved by 60% of Merton pupils, placing them more than 6% above the national average.

But results in the borough have fallen in a year. The exact figures show that the number of GCSE students achieving the target in Merton has gone down from 64.2.% in 2014 to 60% in 2015.

The best performing schools in the borough were in Wimbledon, with 82% Ursuline High School pupils achieving the target, followed by 66% of pupils at both Ricards Lodge High School (below) and Wimbledon College.

The most improved school was Raynes Park High School where 63% achieved the target, compared with 56% in 2014.
