Merton To Start Webcasting Pilot Project

Chance to watch council meetings online

A pilot project will see Merton council webcast its council meetings, starting with the next full council meeting on Wednesday (March 27).

The project will see planning, street management and full council meetings being broadcast over the council's website.

Following approval at a council meeting last November, the webcasting tool will allow residents to view meetings live. It was then agreed that the trial will cost no more than £20,000

The meetings will be available to view online for up to six months. To tune in to the council meeting on Wednesday, visit www.merton.gov.uk/webcasts

It was recently revealed that webcasts of council meetings in Bristol, which has spent £100,000 on the project over five years, have been seen by as few as three people.
