Merton Welcomes The Royal Baby

Send your messages of goodwill

A book of congratulations for Merton residents to send their messages of goodwill to the royal couple following the birth of their baby boy has been opened by the borough council.

The book will be available for Merton residents to sign for a week, and will be sent to the Duke and Duchess, accompanied by a card from the Mayor of Merton as the first citizen of the borough, congratulating the couple on the wonderful news of the arrival of their son.

Set up in Merton Civic Centre reception area in Morden, the book will be available for residents to sign during civic centre opening hours. The council will also continue to fly the Union Jack at full mast, as will many town halls across the UK.

The Mayor of Merton, Councillor Krystal Miller (right), said: "The birth of the boy is a fantastic moment for the country to celebrate, but more importantly a special and exciting time for the royal couple.

"We want to give our residents the opportunity to join in this wonderful moment in history and send their congratulations to welcome the Duke and Duchess’s son into the world."
