Second Micro-Brewery Planned For SW19

Merton Abbey Mills pub could be converted

Plans have been submitted to redevelop a pub and former restaurant at Merton Abbey Mills, into a new-look bar and restaurant incorporating a micro-brewery.

The West End-based Faucet Inn company has applied for planning permission for the redevelopment of the William Morris pub and the former Mama Rosa restaurant site.

The existing pub will be the home for the microbrewery, and will have seating on two storeys, as well as a decked area and roof terrace.

The decked area, which will have a permanent roof, will run alongside the River Wandle.

The application to Merton Borough council states: "Our vision for this site is to create an attractive destination to which people will travel from all parts of London and the South East.

"The remodelled public house will provide a range of dining options combined with a micro-brewery, helping to add variety to the retail mix in Merton Abbey Mills."

  • Work is on-going for another micro-brewery, the Wimbledon Brewery, in a unit behind the nearby Tandem Centre.
