Chance to give views on leisure scheme
Consultation will soon be underway about what facilities residents they would like to see in a new family leisure centre which will replace the dated Morden Park Pools.
Community engagement specialist, PPS Group, will run an independent consultation and report back on what the local community wants from a new £10m leisure centre.
The consultation will be online and PPS will host a number of public exhibitions later this month.
A website outlining the consultation, along with details and dates for the public exhibitions, soon be announced.
Merton council says it has taken advice from Sport England on developing a high spec leisure centre that is best value for money. The budget available for a new leisure centre is £10million.
Merton Council cabinet member for community and culture Councillor Nick Draper said: "Our current 1960s pool has passed its sell-by date and is becoming too expensive to maintain. We want to see a pool, gym and sports hall as part of the new leisure centre, but we also want to hear from residents about what type of pool, gym and sports hall they would like, as well as other facilities, such as a spa or even a climbing wall."
