Trail Runners Clear Up Local Litter

Help clean up Morden Park

A group of trail runners will descend upon Morden Park on Saturday (April 21) to clear up litter.

The event is being organised as part of the TRAIL Campaign, an initiative Sport for Good has implemented to encourage trail runners to pick up litter while out running.

Organisers say Morden Park is a beautiful green space that is well-managed by Merton council, but its beauty is often spoilt by thoughtlessly discarded litter (see right).

It is often used by one of the charity's trustees, Edward Chapman, for an early morning run when he is visiting London.

And he will be leading the group of litter pickers, who will meet in front of Morden Park House at 11am before spreading out throughout the park to collect as much litter as possible before making use of the outdoor gym, having a short run and finishing about 4pm.

Morden Park Pool is allowing the runners to use their showers to freshen up before going home. The event is being supported by Ed & Phil Active.
