Public Hearing Date Set For Pub Scheme

Plans To Be Heard On Agust 1

The date has been set for a public hearing into controversial plans for the empty Morden Tavern.

Merton Borough Council's planning committee had turned down an application for retail units, flats, houses and maisonettes on the site in Central Road, Morden, in January.

But developers Reef Estates appealed to the Planning Inspectorate about the decision made on their £1 million scheme.

The planning inspectorate has now said the public hearing will take place at Merton Civic Centre in Morden at 10am on Wednesday August 1.

It follows more than 1,100 responses from local residents about the plans.
