Bid For An Olympic Banner!

Auction will raise charity funds

Twenty of the London 2012 banners that appeared at key places in Merton, including Wimbledon town centre, are being auctioned in aid of charity.

Merton Borough council is organising the auction with all money raised going to the 'Mayor of Merton's Charitable Trust' whose objectives include the support of sports and culture in the borough, such as the legacy from the London 2012 Games.

The first three auctions has already taken place, and council leader Stephen Alambritis is pictured with one of the banners. But five banners per auction are still up for grabs in the fina auction, which ends on Sunday (December 16).

Bidders must be Merton residents and, although you can bid for more than one banner, there is only one winning banner allowed per household. The highest bid at the end of each day will be published on Merton council's site.
