Parking Ticket Shock For Local Vicar

Chamber boss will appeal against fine

Merton Chamber of Commerce chairman Andrew Wakefield was surprised to receive a parking ticket outside his house in Wimbledon.

Mr Wakefield (left), who is also vicar of St Andrew's Church, said he was clearly displaying a valid parking permit and was parked correctly in a residents' bay.

He received the ticket on Monday (June 25) and took this photo (right), showing both the ticket and the parking permit.

He said his car had been parked in that spot in outside his vicarage in Hartfield Road for eight weeks before he received the ticket.

He now intends to write a letter of appeal to Merton borough council.
