Paul Merton Gets Set For His Panto Role In Wimbledon

TV star will play Widow Twankey in Aladdin this Christmas

Have I Got News For You stalwart and comedy star Paul Merton has been pictured outside New Wimbledon Theatre getting ready for his role as Widow Twankey.

He will be joined in the annual pantomime by Strictly, Blue and EastEnders star Lee Ryan as Aladdin and leading funny man, magician and television regular Pete Firman as his brother Wishee Washee.

They will be joined by leading ladies Linda John Pierre and Lauren Chia as The Empress and Princess Jasmine.

They are all pictured on the entrance to New Wimbledon Theatre on The Broadway.

Completing the cast of Aladdin, which runs in Wimbledon from December 8 to January 6, is Adam Pearce as Abanazar, Josh Donovan, Maria Crawford Clarke, Isaac Hesketh, Sarah Marie Maxwell, Jessica Oakman, Georgia Reid and Michael Stewart.

Aladdin will be directed by Kerry Michael, with choreography by Mitch Sebastian, with featured special effects by The Twins FX and a 3D sequence which promises to transport audiences on a magical carpet ride.
