Plea for more local volunteers

A local cancer fundraising group is calling for new volunteers to help it grow in 2014.

The Wimbledon Marie Curie Fundraising Group is run by local residents who organise regular collections and events. They hope to raise £8,000 by April 2014 - enough to fund 400 hours of nursing care for terminally ill patients.

The group's Chair Darren Bruce said: "We've been really touched by people's generosity, and would love to expand our reach next year by welcoming new supporters to the team.

"Whether you can spare a couple of hours to hold a bucket at our next collection - at Wimbledon station on December 2 - or fancy taking on a more organisational role within the group, please get in touch at wimbledon.mariecurie@gmail.com or by calling 020 8543 6927."
