Sergeant also pleas for more Ward Panel members
Police in Colliers Wood are offering to organise self-defence classes if enough people are interested.
Sergeant Tony Richardson said: "Merton Borough is one of the safest areas in London, but if anyone would like advice on self defence, then please let me know. If there is enough interest I will see if we can sort out some basic classes."
He also said he was looking for people to join the local Ward Panel, which decides on policing needs for the area and involves a commitment for four meetings a year.
"I am still looking at increasing numbers further for our Ward Panel and invite more residents and those engaged in business in Colliers Wood to step up and represent the community," he said.
Sgt Richardson said the ward has had a fluctuation of crime in the last two months and currently has a low burglary rate, but a slightly higher vehicle crime rate.
