Easter Treat For Youngsters At Polka Theatre

"Egg" offers fun, magic and music

Wimbledon's Polka Theatre will be bringing some "eggstraspecial" entertainment for youngsters this Easter.

Egg, presented by Cahoots NI, is a new stage show full of fun, magic and music for children aged 4–7, playing at Polka Theatre on The Broadway over from April 3-13.

While children everywhere clamour for their chocolate Easter eggs, follow this story of spring and join a cohort of madcap birds who grapple with growing up and their natural instincts to take flight and protect their little egg.

Based on Alex Higlett's picture book, Egg and Bird, Egg is played out on a beautifully rustic set constructed from twigs, feathers and shell.

Alongside a band of three performers who delight and entertain the young audience through their comic personifications, Egg is bursting with magic tricks and live music composed by Garth McCoaghie.

Paul Bosco McEneaney Founder and Artistic Director of Cahoots NI, the children's theatre company who have produced Egg, said of the show: "Cahoots NI is delighted to be performing Egg for Polka Theatre audiences this Easter. The production has been so well received by children and families on tour throughout Ireland and England. It is a magical experience for children as they love the characters of the birds and their story of friendship and growing up. It is funny and touching in a way that children really relate to."

Cahoots NI is a professional children's touring theatre company based in Belfast. The company concentrates on the visual potential of theatre and capitalises upon the age-old popularity of magic and illusion as an essential ingredient in the art of entertaining.

There is a 'Relaxed Performance' on Thursday April 11 at 11am for children with learning difficulties, autism and sensory impairments.
