Puss In Boots Is On His Way To Wimbledon

Check out the talking cat at the Polka

Puss in Boots is coming to the Polka Theatre in Wimbledon later this month, complete with puppets and amazing props to 'wow' those aged four and over.

A working windmill whizzes around the stage and fish leap out of trapdoors as Patrick Lynch from CBEEBIES, the BBC channel for young children, animates the eponymous talking cat.

This depantomised Puss in Boots, telling the original gripping story of one of the most famous fables, is a brand new show from Lyngo Theatre.

They say you mustn't think "it's behind you" or even "Antonio Banderas"– instead think of an intimate and beautiful story with some very skilled puppetry and story-telling.

Patrick said: "I am so pleased that I can finally get to use some puppets. It's something I have been wanting to put in our shows for a while and this is the perfect story to do it.

"My favourite part of the show though is the avalanche of fruit, nuts and vegetables. We have a sloping stage and I get to roll onions, oranges and lemons down it. Then I generally eat them after the show. Waste not, want not!"

Lyngo have become regulars at the Polka and have performed their early-years interactive show Egg and Spoon there many times.

Puss in Boots is at the Polka Theatre from June 17-28.
