Marking Red Nose Day In Merton

Council leader joins in the fun

Merton council leader Stephen Alambritis has shown his support for Comic Relief by buying one of the charity's fund-raising t-shirts.

Councillor Alambritis, who bought his shirt at TK Maxx in the Colliers Wood Tandem Centre, said: "Every year the Red Nose Day team works very hard to make Comic Relief a fun and very worthwhile cause that helps people in need in the UK and Africa.

"I'm glad that I could support Red Nose Day 2013 locally in Merton and I would encourage everyone to get involved in Comic Relief this week."

Fashion designer Stella McCartney has designed the official T-shirts for Red Nose Day 2013. The T-shirts feature icons including The Beatles, Tommy Cooper and Marilyn Monroe.

Red Nose Day takes place this year on Friday March 15.
