Sophie Hosking Retires From Rowing

Gold medallist will concentrate on legal career

Wimbledon's own Olympic gold medallist, Sophie Hosking, has announced her retirement from professional rowing.

The 27-year-old, an avid AFC Wimbledon fan, who won her medal in the women's lightweight double sculls during London 2012, is studying law from September.

She told BBC Sport: "I feel complete with all the things I have achieved in my rowing career.

"My retirement signifies the start of a new chapter in my life and I'm looking forward to the new challenge."

Sophie had a gold post box painted in her honour in Worple Road, Wimbledon (see right) after her Olympic triumph.
