Try New Sports During South Park Gardens Charity Challenge

Event will raise funds in memory of Wimbledon teenager Molly Burdett

Join a charity fitness challenge for the whole family this month to raise money by being active and trying out new sports in Wimbledon’s South Park Gardens.

Organisers are calling for people to come along and take part in a range of classes including bootcamp, aerobics and an obstacle course.

Sports including tennis, rugby, football and hockey will be on offer at sports-themed stations in the park on Sunday September 25.

The event is being organised by volunteers from the Molly’s Smile Fund, a fund set up in memory of Wimbledon teenager Molly Burdett who died aged 19 in 2015 from a rare disease of the immune system.

All money raised will go towards setting up a dyslexia suite at St Mary’s University in Twickenham.

As well as a range of fun activities, there will also be a raffle and variety of refreshments available for sale to help raise even more money.

The deputy mayor of Merton, Councillor Stan Anderson will be on hand to try out some sports and support the cause.

Children’s classes will be free but donations are welcome. Tickets for adult classes cost £7 with a £1.58 booking fee, or a pass for all classes can be purchased for £30 with a £2.84 fee.

The event will be held from 10.30am to 4pm.

Tickets are available to purchase from the Eventbrite website.
