Police Appeal After Car Set Alight


Vehicle fire could have had serious consequences

Police are appealing for witnesses after a Saab car was set alight in a car park in Lacock Close, South Wimbledon.

The fire brigade and police were called to the blaze at 8.50pm on Monday (November 14).

The fire was extinguished, but the car was extensively damaged and the blaze could have had a more serious outcome.

Police are investigating reports of people seen near the vehicle just before the blaze was reported.

Sergeant Stuart Wiltshire, of Trinity Safer Neighbourhoods Team, said: "This was a dangerous incident which could have had far more serious consequences. In a small area like this, we are really keen to address any problems and support our residents."
