Trackside fire causes a morning's delays on the Northern Line

South Wimbledon station was closed and there were severe delays on the Northern Line today after a fire on the trackside.

London Fire Bridgade were called to the station at 9.44am, with 17 firefighters and three fire engines attending the scene.

The station was shut around 10am and the Northern Line was also closed between Morden and Kennington for nearly an hour.

The station re-opened after 11am, but it took until the afternoon for the Northern Line to resume a good service.
