Campaigners Fight Against St Helier Downgrade

Scheme is facing three-month consultation

Campaigners are continuing to fight against plans to close the Accident & Emergency and Maternity units at St Helier Hospital.

The NHS SW London's 'Better Services Better Value' Review (BSBV) has recently backed its original recommendations that the St Helier units would close, rather than those at Kingston or St George's Hospitals.

Earlier this week a group of pregnant women protested against the plans - by daubing the message "Save St Helier" on their 'bumps' in front of the hospital.

The plans will go before the joint hospitals boards on September 27 and will then go forward for a three-month public consultation.
