Free hand massage on offer

Free hand massage is being offered to Wimbledon Library users as part of National Stress Awareness Day.

The library, on Wimbledon Hill Road, will offer the hand massage sessions from 2pm-3.30pm on Friday November 9.

National Stress Awareness Day actually takes place on Wednesday November 7, and there are other events taking place across libraries in Merton.

Wimbledon will mark the event again with a Wellbeing session in the library, from 10am-11.30am on Saturday November 10.

Wellbeing sessions aimed at improving the mind, body and health and increasing vitality will also take place on Monday November 5 in Mitcham at 10.30am -12.00pm; Donald Hope in Colliers Wood at 2.30pm-4.30pm; Raynes Park at 5pm-6pm; Morden on Tuesday November 6, 10am-11.30am and 5.15pm-6.45pm. Raynes Park Library is holding a Yoga and meditation classes for all levels on Thursday November 8 at 10am - 11.30am. Mitcham Library is also holding a Yoga session on Wednesday November 7 at 10am-11.30am.

Council Cabinet member for community and culture, Councillor Nick Draper said: "I think our libraries are the perfect place to visit any time that you're feeling stressed. Reading is a great hobby and a good way of relieving stress and if a book doesn't do the trick, then try out some of your library's alternative relaxation sessions. These sessions run regularly, so don't just wait until a day like National Stress Awareness to get involved, come along any time."
