Strikes Closed Local Schools

More than 40 schools affected by stoppage

Strikes closed 23 schools in Merton on Thursday June 30, with 21 others partly affected.

Merton council said that only eight schools in the borough were unaffected - Cranmer, Garfield, Holy Trinity, Links, Singlegate, St Marks, and the Sherwood primary schools, as well as Cricket Green special needs school.

The national one-day strike was called by the teaching unions in reaction to Government plans to change their pension rights.

The 21 partly-affected schools included many open for certain Year Groups only.
