Police investigate incident in Wimbledon

A teenager was taken to hospital after a reported stabbing incident in Wimbledon on Tuesday (January 31).

It is understood the 18-year-old received the injuries following an incident near Haydons Road at the junction with Queens Road.

He was later found on Putney Heath suffering from stab wounds and was taken to a South London hospital.

Police and ambulance services were called to the scene at 11pm.

No arrests have been made and police are now appealing for witnesses. The teenager was later reported to be critical, but stable, in hospital.

Darren Williams, Borough Commander at Merton police said: "Violent crime is a priority for the Police at Merton and I appeal for anyone who may have seen the incident or has any information about why it happened or who was involved to contact my officers at the CID at Wimbledon Police Station on 0208 649 3126.
