Merton Park school is among England's most improving
Rutlish School in Merton Park has been nationally recognised for achieving some of the fasted improving GCSE results in England.
The school is one of the top 10% of schools in England to have significantly improved GCSE results year-on-year from 2008 until 20011, according to The Schools Network (SSAT).
During this time the school has seen its results increase by 19 percentage points overall. GSCE results for the school in 2011 were 64% A*-C including English and maths.
Every school in England has been ranked according to how much progress they made in improving their GCSE results between 2008 and 2011 in the new rankings released by the representative body for schools, SSAT.
Rutlish School headteacher Alex Williamson said: "We are delighted with this achievement and feel greatly encouraged as we raise the school's standards still further. I am proud of all our pupils who work so hard and are great ambassadors for the school. Being in the top 10% of improved schools is also testament to our dedicated team of teaching staff who work tirelessly to ensure our pupils can achieve the best they can."
Merton Council cabinet member for education Councillor Martin Whelton added: "This is a great achievement for Rutlish, and one of which they are rightly proud. Education is a major priority for Merton and we are continuing to make major investments in our schools to ensure our children benefit from quality education near to where they live. We are looking forward to seeing continued progress in all our schools. Rutlish is a great example of what can be achieved."
