Woman Is Bailed After Tram Incident

Emma West makes third court appearance

A woman charged with an offence of racial aggravation after an incident on the Croydon to Wimbledon tram, which was captured on video by another passenger, has been given bail.

Emma West, aged 34, of New Addington, who was charged with Racially Aggravated Section 4a on November 28 had been facing Christmas in custody.

But when she appeared at Croydon Magistrates Court on Tuesday (December 13) she was released on bail until Tuesday January 3. She has yet to enter a plea.

The YouTube video has now been uploaded more than 11 million times.

The trams run from Croydon to Wimbledon and it is not clear where on the line the incident took place. But one comment on the YouTube link said it took place as the tram travelled to Wimbledon.
