Woman Faces Crown Court Trial After Tram Incident

Emma West also faces additional offence

A woman charged with an offence of racial aggravation after an incident on the Croydon to Wimbledon tram, which was captured on video by another passenger, will face Crown Court trial.

Emma West, aged 34, who has already been charged with Racially Aggravated Section 4a, also faced another charge when she appeared at Croydon Magistrates Court on Tuesday (January 3).

She has now been charged with intent to cause fear or provocation of violence after a passenger, Ena-May Eubanks, said she hit her left shoulder with a "closed fist".

West, who lives in New Addington, said she wanted to face trial at Crown Court.

The YouTube video has now been uploaded more than 11 million times after November's incident.

The trams run from Croydon to Wimbledon and it is not clear where on the line the alleged offence occured. But one comment on the original YouTube link said it took place as the tram travelled to Wimbledon.
