Firefighters To The Rescue After Wimbledon Tree Fall

Poplar tree falls onto semi-detached house

Firefighters helped a family after a tree fell onto their home on Augustus Road in Wimbledon on Tuesday (May 31).

The 15 metre poplar tree fell from a neighbouring garden onto the semi-detached house. Fire crews comforted the family who were shaken, but unhurt.

A London Fire Brigade spokesperson said: "A firefighter's role and training covers much more than just fires. As the home owner said it was a miracle that no one was injured. Fire crews worked with a structural engineer and tree surgeon to make the scene safe."

The Brigade was called at 8.50pm and the incident was over by 10.19pm. Firefighters from Wandsworth, Fulham and Battersea fire stations were involved.
