Warning Over A3 Roadworks Taking Place

Work has been planned to minimise disruption

Roadworks taking 13 weeks are starting on the Beverley Way junction of the A3 from Monday (June 24).

The work has been planned to "minimise disruption" during the busy Wimbledon Tennis fortnight, and nearby residents have received a letter warning them about the work.

The work, which is to improve bus stop accessibility at the busy junction, will take place between 10am to 4pm Monday to Saturday, and where lane closures on the A3 are required, between the hours of 8pm to 5am.

The works will be carried out in phases as indicated below:

  • Phase 1 Beverley Way service road (Huntley Way – Coombe Lane West)

Bus stops to be suspended whilst works are undertaken

  • Phase 2 A3 Robin Hood Way - Bus stop removal north of Coombe Lane West
  • Phase 3 A3 Beverley Way southbound on & off slip roads at Coombe Lane
  • Phase 4 Beverley Way service road (Nos. 18 – 154)

Bus stop opposite No. 124-128 to be suspended whilst works are undertaken.

Christian van der Nest, from TfL, said in response to a request more information from Richard Tracey, London Assembly member for Merton & Wandworth: "The work has also been phased to minimise disruption, and over the Wimbledon Championships fortnight, work will only be taking place in the northbound service road to undertake bus stop accessibility improvements, with little or no impact to the main A3."
