Cash and jewellery taken in raid on house
A terrified woman was threatened by two masked men, one weilding a knife, who forced their way into her home in Quicks Road, Wimbledon.
The robbers stole cash and jewellery from the house after one of them held the 35-year-old woman and her 64-year-old mother-in-law at knifepoint.
Police said the two women were very frightened, but physically unharmed by the attack, which took place at 9am on Tuesday November 16.
The woman had been returning to her house when two masked men approached her from behind as she opened her front door. They pushed her backwards through the door, forcing their way into the house.
She was held at knifepoint in the front room, along with her mother-in-law, by one man who shouted threats and demands at the scared women. The other robber left the room and searched the house.
After around ten minutes, they left the house, having stolen a quantity of cash and jewellery. They were seen to run off towards Wycliffe Road and got into a waiting vehicle, a Black Range Rover index similar to FF04*** or FN04***.
The suspects are described as black males, about 6ft tall, wearing balaclavas and yellow high visibility jackets.
Police are keen to locate any witnesses, in particular a man passing by the address as the suspects ran out past him, who then spoke to the victim before police arrived.
DC Rob Butters, of Wimbledon CID, said: "Merton is one of the safest Boroughs in London and we won’t tolerate this kind of crime against our residents. We’re following up all possible leads to identify and arrest these offenders as soon as possible, and look after this family".
