Wimbledon arrests made in Operation Hawk
Police made a number of arrests in Merton as part of a day-long London-wide operation to crackdown on neighbourhood criminals.
"Operation Hawk" saw 4,000 Safer Neighbourhoods officers and PCSOs, supported by colleagues including the Dogs Unit and Territorial Support Group, carrying out robust and visible operations on Thursday November 24.
Merton police responded to community intelligence to target drug dealers, perpetrators of anti-social behaviour and other criminals who impact on communities.
Officers from Merton CID and Safer Neighbourhoods Teams executed five early morning search warrants, in relation to drugs and stolen property, at addresses in Wimbledon, Mitcham and Morden, and made nine arrests.
Property recovered included a quantity of mobile phones, substances believed to Class A drugs, and cannabis. Police inquiries, and further warrants will follow as officers follow up the leads.
At one address in Wimbledon, a Special Constable executed an arrest warrant for 18-year-old man for failing to appear at court, in relation to a theft charge. He was remanded in custody.
Other arrests made by the Safer Neighbourhoods Teams included a 47-year-old man arrested at an address in Raynes Park following previous allegations of threats to kill.
