Wimbledon's First Bollywood Film Is Released

National release for movie shot in SW19

The first Bollywood movie to be filmed in Wimbledon goes on national release today (March 7).

'Total Siyapaa' is the story of a British Indian woman who falls in love with a Pakistani man.

It was filmed at the Wimbledon Studios in Deer Park Road and included location shots in Wimbledon Village, The Broadway, Wimbledon Common and Morden town centre.

There are other SW19 connections to the film as producer Chris Bunyan and production designer Simon Godfrey are both from Wimbledon.

There are other location shots from the capital as the Brit-Asian cross-over film is set in London.

The "urban-ist rom-com" covers the differences between India and Pakistan and hopes to foster a deeper understanding between the two countries.

It involves a series of hilarious mishaops when Pakistani rockstar Aman (played by Ali Zafar) meetings the parents of his British-Sikh love interest Asha (played by Yami Gautam).

The film is produced by Reliance Entertainment.
