Wimbledon CC Target Hat-Trick Win at La Manga

Jetset comes after being crowned National t20 and Surrey Champions

Wimbledon Cricket Club will be packing their bags and jetting off on an international mission to Spain’s prestigious La Manga Club next month as part of their reward for being crowned ECB National Club t20 champions.

The Surrey side will head out to the five-star resort in Murcia, Spain, to take part in the fifth Kiss Mix Lady Taverners Charity Cricket t20 Tournament after beating Northern Cricket Club by seven wickets in the t20 final at Edgbaston this month.

Wimbledon, who also won the Surrey Championship this summer, will face nine opponents in the knockout competition including teams from Spain, Belgium, Switzerland and four sides from Norway.

And should they complete a hat-trick of victories for this season at the event, which takes place from October 12-16, they will then have the privilege of facing a Lord’s Taverners’ Legends side captained by England Ashes-winning captain Mike Gatting in a charity match on the final day.

Running alongside the inaugural Kiss Mix Lord’s Taverners Golf Classic, the t20 tournament is part of a four-day golf and cricket charity extravaganza taking place at La Manga Club next month.

Gatting will headline a star-studded line-up that will participate in the golf competition. Joining him will be former England teammates Phillip DeFreitas and Neil Radford, Surrey captain Gareth Batty and ex-Warwickshire and England international Neil Smith, while Surrey fast bowler Jon Lewis and Somerset’s Steve Kirby are also hoping to attend.

Featuring a 36-hole Stableford competition on La Manga Club’s South and North courses, golf packages cost €2,000 for a team of four and include four nights in the five-star Hotel La Manga Club Principe Felipe with breakfast, welcome reception, gala dinner with full drinks package and prize-giving with entertainment.

The luxurious setting of La Manga Club is the ideal venue for the competition with its three championship golf courses perfectly complemented by the rest of the resort’s wide-ranging facilities, including a 28-court tennis centre and 2,000sqm spa complex.

The golf and cricket competitions are just some of the many events being staged in 2012 by the fundraising organisation - the official charity for recreational cricket and the UK’s leading youth cricket and disability sports charity.
