Wimbledon Choral Society Is Recruiting

Tenors are particularly needed for local choir

Wimbledon Choral Society, which is nearly 100 years old, is looking for new recuits - especially tenors.

The choir has around 160-180 members and rehearses on Monday nights in Wimbledon Community Centre in St George's Road.

It put on four concerts in 2010 and also sang at the Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance in the Royal Albert Hall in November.

Its next concert is "French Masters" in Guildford Cathedral on Saturday March 26 when the choir will sing works from Faure, Poulenc and Saint-Saens.

The choir's musical director is Neil Ferris and it has a long history, with official records starting in October 1914 when a group of singers were formed to take part in a ceremony on Wimbledon Common.
