Event Will Mark Atomic Bomb Anniversary

Candles will be floated across Rushmere Lake

The 70th anniversary of the world's first atomic bomb is on August 6.

Wimbledon Disarmament Coalition/CND will be remembering the 200,000 people who died with the destruction of the city of Hiroshima.

A short ceremony will take place at dusk (8.45pm) on August 6 on the shores of Rushmere Lake (Southside, Wimbledon Common) when candles will be floated across the water in the Japanese tradition.

"It is important that we never forget the reality of nuclear weapons", said Joanna Bazley, Secretary of WDC/CND.
