Chance to meet local fire crews and inspect their fire engines

There was fun for all the family at the recent Open Day at Wimbledon Fire Station in Kingston Road.

As well as a chance to meet fire crews and have a look around the station, children were able to practice their firefighting skills and have a go with the fire hose. They could also sit on the fire engines and look at the equipment on board.

There were demonstrations of how crews rescue casualties after a traffic accident and there was an aerial ladder platform display.

Crews were on hand to offer fire safety advice and there were fun children’s activities, including a bouncy castle.
